The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has highlighted the critical role of inter-agency cooperation in enhancing national security and promoting trade efficiency during the 2026 International Customs Day celebration in Abuja. Represented by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7, AIG Victor Olaiya, the IGP reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to working alongside other regulatory agencies to ensure a secure and efficient environment for lawful trade and national development.
The event, held at the Abuja Intercontinental Hotel, brought together stakeholders from government ministries, security agencies, the private sector, and international partners. It focused on strengthening trade facilitation, operational efficiency, and collaboration among agencies managing Nigeria’s borders and trade systems.
The IGP stressed that cooperation among security and regulatory bodies is vital for improving service delivery, safeguarding national interests, and fostering sustainable economic growth.
The launch of the Time Release Study (TRS) by the Nigeria Customs Service was a major highlight, reflecting the agency’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and alignment with international best practices in cargo clearance.
AIG Olaiya’s presence also underscored the Police Force’s dedication to inter-agency synergy, maintaining public safety, and supporting initiatives that enhance border management and national development.
