The Igbega Oyo Initiative, led by its founder, Dr. Ololade Usman Bakare, has entered into a strategic partnership with the City Boy Movement (CBM) to strengthen grassroots mobilization and civic engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The collaboration, unveiled during a meeting in Abuja, is aimed at rallying support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with both groups setting an ambitious target of delivering one million votes from Oyo State and beyond.
Dr. Bakare explained that the partnership goes beyond campaign activities, emphasizing the creation of a people-driven movement focused on unity, development, and sustained political awareness across wards, local governments, and the state. He expressed confidence in the initiative’s capacity to mobilize significant voter support from Oyo State’s over 2.5 million registered voters.
According to him, the Igbega Oyo Initiative will leverage its extensive networks among religious organizations, artisan and transport unions, professional associations, student bodies, market groups, and traditional institutions across the state.
The City Boy Movement, led by its Director-General, Hon. Francis Shoga, is widely recognized for youth-driven political mobilization and grassroots engagement, which both groups believe will strengthen outreach efforts ahead of the polls.
Under the partnership framework, the organizations will focus on voter education, membership expansion, community outreach, grassroots advocacy, and building a coordinated mobilization structure across Oyo State’s geopolitical zones.
Both groups noted that success in the 2027 elections would depend on deliberate organization, meaningful engagement with citizens, and clear messaging centered on continuity and progress.
Among those present at the strategic meeting were National Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, Mr. Favour Abayomi; National Coordinator of the Igbega Oyo Initiative, Alhaji Ramon Ishola; Head of Collaboration and Partnership, Mr. Babatunde John; and Legal Adviser, Mr. Amana Alkali Esq.
The organizations reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful, strategic, and inclusive political participation aimed at strengthening democratic engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
