As part of activities marking the second year anniversary of his administration, Nasarawa State governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has said that he will tour all the 13 local government areas of the state, to appreciate traditional rulers and other major stakeholders.
Engineer Sule disclosed this while presenting 25 brand new Lexus jeeps to first class traditional rulers in the state, at a ceremony at the Government House, on Tuesday.
According to the governor, he is undertaking the tour to hear directly from the people, about how far his administration has faired, what are the expectations of the people and what is the administration expected to deliver.
Engineer Sule added that he will also use the opportunity to inspect, as well as commission some project started by his administration.
The governor used the opportunity of the event, to appreciate traditional rulers in the state, for their support, having participated in every meeting organised by the government, contributing valuable ideas, as well as implemented most of the recommendations, which is responsible for the level of peace being witnessed in the state.
Engineer Sule also appreciated the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), for supporting his administration constantly and for providing the guidelines the state government has been implementing.
The governor equally appreciated all the security agencies operating in the state, especially President Muhammadu Buhari, for his continuous support, particularly in the areas of economy and security.
Presenting the keys of the vehicles to the royal fathers, Engineer Sule, said government decided to distribute vehicles to first class traditional rulers in the state, in order to ease the discharge of responsibility, considering the vital role the royal fathers are playing in the maintainance and sustenance of security in the state.
The governor said, being custodians of the peoples norms, culture and tradition, the traditional rulers must be carried along as done civil servants in the state, who continue to receive 100 percent of their salaries, as well as magistrate court judges, who were provided with vehicles to facilitate the discharge of their responsibilities, in spite of the economic challenges confronting Nasarawa State.
On his part, Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Yusuf Aliyu Turaki, described the procurement of the vehicles for the traditional rulers, as apt and commendable, especially when viewed against the significant role they continue to play on security and maintaining peace and harmonious coexistence among the diverse ethnic groups in the state.
