In commemoration of this year International Human Rights Day, Nigerian lawyer Frank Tietie has unveiled LAWYERS ACROSS, a transformative network designed to promote pro bono legal services and empower young lawyers throughout Nigeria. The initiative aimed to provide a platform for legal professionals to offer free legal assistance while advancing their careers and building impactful networks.
During the launch, Tietie shared his personal journey, recounting his beginnings as a young lawyer in Ughelli, Delta State, and his move to Abuja in 2007 with little more than a bag of books. Overcoming challenges, Tietie rose to national prominence through his unwavering commitment to pro bono work, proving that young lawyers can achieve success even without institutional support.
In his address, Tietie stated, “Pro bono work is not just about giving back; it is about building a meaningful career and contributing to a greater cause. I want to inspire young lawyers—from the savannahs of Northern Nigeria to the Niger Delta to understand that by offering pro bono services, you can guarantee yourself a life of greatness without compromising standards.”
Tietie also took a moment to acknowledge the individuals who played a crucial role in his pro bono journey. He expressed heartfelt thanks to his mentors and supporters, including:

These legal professionals, Tietie noted, were instrumental in helping him navigate the early days of his pro bono practice and have contributed to the foundation of LAWYERS ACROSS.
A press briefing to officially mark the launch of LAWYERS ACROSS is scheduled for later today in Asokoro, Abuja.
With LAWYERS ACROSS, Tietie hoped to inspire a new generation of Nigerian lawyers to embrace pro bono work as a powerful tool for personal growth, professional development.
