The Network for Democracy and Development (NDD) has commiserated with President Muhammadu Buhari, the family of the deceased, his friends, associates and staff as well as all Nigerians on the death of Mallam Abba Kyari.
Mallam Abba Kyari died in active service to the nation. It would be recalled that the late Chief of Staff to the President tested positive for COVID-19 a few days after he returned to Nigeria from official national assignment in Germany.
The news of the death of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, was received by Nigerians with shock. The fact that Mallam Kyari died in a Lagos hospital from the effects and complications related to the deadly COVID-19 disease last night was all the more sad. He thus became the highest profile Nigerian to have succumbed to the deadly disease.
He came in contact with the deadly virus during his official itinerary.
“There is no doubt that Nigeria has lost a great patriot. Mallam Abba Kyari was well educated, vastly experienced and deeply connected. We will greatly miss his experience as a social scientist, lawyer, banker, administrator and politician. While serving as the Chief of Staff to the President from August 2015 until his death yesterday, Mallam Kyari brought his rich background and experience to bear in the discharge of his duties.”
However, we acknowledge that life is transient and death is the inevitable end of all mortals. As a human, and serving at the topmost level at one of the most critical moments in the nation’s history, Mallam Kyari was not immune from errors. However, his great contributions to the stability of President Buhari’s government and the nation’s progress under the current administration are attested to by Nigerians of different shades of opinion.
While commiserating with President Buhari and the nation on the sad occasion of the loss of Mallam Abba Kyari, we pray Allah to forgive his human errors, accept his good deeds and grant him al-Jannah. May Allah comfort and strengthen his family.
We pray Allah to save the world from COVID-19 and other deadly diseases. May He grant healing to all the affected persons in Nigeria and across the world. NDD stated.
