The Founder of Rahmaniya Group, Abdulrahman Bashar, has vowed to challenge a judgment issued against him by a Dubai court, described it as a pressure tactic aimed at tarnishing his reputation and business.
A Dubai court sentenced Abdulrahman to one year in prison over an alleged financial crime linked to his dealings with CE Energy Company, an oil and gas firm. However, he maintained his innocence and is actively working with global law firm HFW to overturn the ruling.
The UAE court delivered the verdict on January 30, 2025, in Abdulrahman’s absence, denying him the opportunity to properly defend himself against the allegations. His legal team is confident that once his defense is presented, the Dubai courts will overturn the judgment.
Abdulrahman stated;”We refer to the criminal proceedings and recent judgment issued against Mr. Bashar on January 30, 2025. First and foremost, Mr. Bashar rejects any allegations of criminality.
“There are several ongoing civil disputes between CEE and Mr. Bashar. The criminal proceedings, in our view, were filed as a pressure tactic within the commercial proceedings to damage Mr. Bashar’s reputation and business.”
“Mr. Bashar will take all necessary legal steps to challenge this judgment.”
He further alleged that CE Energy had previously employed similar aggressive litigation tactics in the commercial proceedings, including securing a Worldwide Freezing Order (WFO) against him from an English court. However, the order was successfully challenged and discharged, with the Court of Appeal rejecting CEE’s attempt to reinstate it.
Notably, Abdulrahman is currently conducting his legal business in Nigeria and is not in any prison, contrary to some assumptions.
