The Ondo State Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations, Otunba Wale Akinlosotu, has congratulated the Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, on her conferment of a Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) Honoris Causa by the Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD).
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Akure, Tayelolu Oladuti, Head of Media Unit, Ministry of Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations, described the award as a well-deserved recognition of Dr. Dabiri-Erewa’s exceptional contributions to national development, Diaspora engagement, and public service on behalf of the Commissioner.
He quoted Akinlosotu as lauding Dr. Dabiri-Erewa as a visionary leader and nation builder, whose tireless efforts toward the welfare and empowerment of Nigerians in the Diaspora have earned her global admiration and respect.
“Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa’s consistent drive, patriotism, and devotion to service have made her an icon of integrity and inspiration. Her recognition by ABUAD is a testament to her enduring impact, leadership excellence, and commitment to building bridges between Nigeria and her Diaspora community,” Akinlosotu stated.
The Commissioner added that the honour underscored her trailblazing role in promoting Nigeria’s image globally, inspiring especially young women to pursue diligence, discipline, and service to humanity.
Akinlosotu also reaffirmed the Ondo State Government’s strong partnership with NiDCOM, pledging continued collaboration in promoting Diaspora engagement and investment.
He highlighted ongoing initiatives such as the Ondo Diaspora Smart City Project, the annual Ondo Diaspora Week, and other investment and cultural exchange programmes as proof of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to deepening ties with Nigerians abroad.
“Under the purposeful leadership of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Ondo State will continue to work closely with NiDCOM to promote Diaspora investment, cultural exchange, and international cooperation for sustainable development,” he affirmed.
Akinlosotu concluded by praying for God’s continued grace, wisdom, and strength for Dr. Dabiri-Erewa as she continues to serve Nigeria and humanity with distinction.
