Akpabio declares Governor Umo Eno APC Leader in Akwa Ibom, calls for Unity, support for Tinubu

President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has formally declared Governor Umo Eno as the political leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State, called on party stakeholders to remain united and support both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Governor in driving development across the nation.
Akpabio made this declaration during a strategic APC stakeholders’ meeting held in Uyo, the state capital, on Thursday. The meeting, which brought together ward, chapter, and state executives of the party, was the first since Governor Eno officially defected to the APC.
While addressing the gathering, Senator Akpabio described Governor Eno as “a man of peace and a unifier,” whose entry into the APC signifies the fulfillment of his vision for a politically united Akwa Ibom. He praised the Governor’s leadership style, saying it aligned with the spirit of the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Tinubu.
“Akwa Ibom is one. This Governor is a unifier and we should shun divisive tendencies. Let us support him to bring development to our dear State. When I moved to the APC in 2018, my goal was to link our State to the national power grid. That vision has now become a reality under the leadership of Pastor Umo Eno,” Akpabio stated.
The high point of the event was the symbolic presentation of the APC broom the party’s emblem to Governor Eno, marking his official recognition as the state leader of the party.
Senator Akpabio also emphasized that the growing atmosphere of political unity in the state would translate into overwhelming support for President Tinubu’s economic reforms and transformation agenda.
In a dramatic show of solidarity, stakeholders at the meeting unanimously adopted President Tinubu and Governor Eno for second terms through a voice vote initiated by the Senate President.
In his remarks, Governor Umo Eno expressed deep appreciation for the confidence reposed in him by the party leadership. He reiterated his admiration for President Tinubu’s leadership and pledged his full support for the President’s re-election bid in 2027.
“I am here to contribute meaningfully to the progress of our state and to work for the re-election of President Tinubu. I am also committed to ensuring that our people feel the impact of good governance,” the Governor said.
Governor Eno also lauded Senator Akpabio’s representation in the National Assembly, pledged that the state would stand solidly behind his return to the Senate and his continued role as Senate President.
