Al-Usrah Incorporated, a faith-based organization in Port Harcourt, has expressed deep concern over the recent wave of killings and abductions across Nigeria, urged the government and security agencies to take urgent action to safeguard innocent lives.
In a statement issued on Friday by Imam (Prof.) Abdulrasaq Kilani Salaudeen, Chief Imam, Al-Usrah Incorporated,Ibrahim Kolawole, Secretary General, the organization condemned the attacks at the Government Girls Comprehensive School in Magama, Kebbi State, CAC Church in Eruku, Kwara State, and St. Mary Private School in Niger State, described the incidents as “heinous acts of violence that have thrown families and communities into fear and uncertainty.”
The organization extended heartfelt sympathy to the families of victims, emphasizing that no parent should endure the anguish of not knowing their child’s fate and no community should live under the shadow of terror.
Quoting the Qur’an, Al-Usrah reminded Nigerians that the taking of innocent lives is strictly forbidden: “whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land it is as if he had slain all mankind; and whoever saves one it is as if he has saved all mankind” (Qur’an 5:32).
Al-Usrah urged the Federal Government and security agencies to act decisively for the immediate release of abducted children and all victims while prioritizing the safety of citizens nationwide. The organization stressed that schools, places of worship, and other public spaces must be adequately protected to ensure that Nigerians can live without fear.
The statement also called for a sustained and coordinated effort to bring perpetrators to justice, restore peace, and prevent future attacks. “Our prayers are with the affected families. May Allah grant them strength, patience, and hope during this trying time. We also call on our leaders to uphold justice and the rule of law,” the statement read.
Al-Usrah further emphasized that the protection of all citizens, regardless of faith or location, is fundamental to national unity and social stability. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that foster peace, justice, and community resilience across Nigeria.
