The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has announced the appointment of Alhaji Alidu Shutti as the Acting Secretary of the Commission. The appointment, effective immediately, followed the voluntary resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Rabi’u Kontagora on December 6, 2024.
Alhaji Shutti, a native of Iwo in Osun State, joined NAHCON in 2007 and has served in several key capacities, including Director of Inspectorate and Compliance, Head of the Tour Operators Division, Assistant Director of Licensing Division, Deputy Director of States and Zones, and Deputy Coordinator of the Makkah Office in 2022 and 2023.
A seasoned Administrator with over 19 years of public service experience, Alhaji Shutti attended Methodist High School in Iwo for his secondary education.
He proceeded to the University of Ilorin, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Studies and a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA). He also holds a Diploma in Journalism. His expertise in Hajj and Umrah administration has been further enhanced through participation in local and international seminars, including programs in the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.
In an official statement, signed by Fatima Sanda Usara, Assistant Director of Information and Publications,and released on December 25, 2024,.NAHCON described Alhaji Shutti as “a seasoned and dedicated administrator with vast knowledge of Hajj and Umrah operations. His leadership qualities and extensive experience uniquely position him to ensure the continued success of NAHCON’s programs, particularly as preparations for the upcoming Hajj intensify.”
