Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has declared that the ruling party has evolved beyond a coalition into a fully integrated and cohesive political force.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday at the National Assembly Complex, Ganduje said the APC’s internal unity and successful integration of members from diverse political backgrounds have strengthened its position in Nigeria’s political landscape.
“We are not a mixture, we are now a compound,” he stated, emphasized that the party has moved past its formative stage into a stable and unified structure.
Ganduje expressed satisfaction with the level of cohesion within the party, noting that recent political developments have reinforced its inclusiveness and internal stability. He commended party stakeholders, including elected officials at both national and state levels, for their roles in sustaining unity.
The former chairman also lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating what he described as an enabling political environment that attracts members of other parties into the APC fold.
According to him, the administration’s openness has encouraged cross-party collaboration and defections, assuring new entrants of full integration into the party’s structure.
On internal processes, Ganduje underscored the role of consensus-building in minimizing disputes during party primaries and conventions. He explained that consensus candidacy, followed by affirmation, serve as an effective alternative to competitive elections by reducing friction and discouraging anti-party activities.
The former APC Chairman further highlighted grassroots integration as a key strategy for consolidating the party’s support base ahead of future elections.
His remarks was coming amid ongoing political realignments across the country, with the APC positioning itself as a unifying platform for diverse political interests.
