A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Adamawa governorship aspirant, Abdulrahman Haske, has emphasised purposeful leadership and intra-party stability as critical ingredients for sustaining democracy and driving socio-economic development in Nigeria.
Haske made the remarks on the sidelines of the APC North-East Zonal Congress held in Gombe on Wednesday, where party stakeholders converged to deliberate on the future of the party in the region.
According to him, the APC’s internal cohesion has strengthened its position nationwide, attributing the party’s progress to the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He noted that stability within the party has enabled it to institutionalise progressive governance across all levels.
The congress, hosted by Muhammadu Yahaya, produced Idris Shaibu Gella as the new National Vice Chairman (North-East). The event drew prominent APC figures, including Mai Mala Buni, Agbu Kefas, and Ahmadu Fintiri, alongside other party leaders and stakeholders.
Haske described the peaceful conduct of the congress as a reflection of the party’s commitment to unity and internal democracy, stressing that such cohesion is vital as the APC prepares for future electoral contests.
“This congress is not merely procedural; it affirms our collective resolve as a party. It shows that the APC remains united and focused on deepening democratic values while advancing national development,” he said.
Observers noted that Haske’s presence at the event attracted significant grassroots support, with party loyalists displaying banners and chanting slogans such as “Haske Maganin Duhu” and “Haske Is Okay,” signalled growing momentum around his political ambition ahead of the Adamawa governorship race.
He also commended the party’s national leadership and delegates for fostering an inclusive political environment, adding that the APC remains a viable platform for emerging leaders and fresh ideas.
Haske called on party members across the country to consolidate support for the APC ahead of its National Convention scheduled for March 27–28, 2026, describing it as a crucial gathering that will shape the party’s strategic direction.
The zonal congress, which began in the afternoon, evolved into a major political convergence, reinforcing the APC’s organisational strength in the North-East and setting the tone for upcoming political activities within the party.
