A special two-part documentary celebrating the life and legacy of renowned Ijaw leader and elder statesman, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, will premiere this Sunday, May 11, on Arise News at 7:30 p.m.
Produced by First News Online, the 30-minute programme will also be available for streaming on First News TV’s YouTube channel.
In a statement, Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of First News, Dr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, described the documentary as “compelling,” highlighting its powerful portrayal of Chief Clark’s journey through education, public service, activism, and nation-building.
“The first part tells the story of how our revered father rose through determination and resilience, overcoming major obstacles to contribute significantly to peace, unity, and development in Nigeria,” Iworiso-Markson said.
He added that the second part captured the core ideals of the late elder statesman, his death, and the enduring lessons of his character and values.
“We wanted to go beyond books and speeches. This documentary offers a vivid, visual tribute to Chief Clark’s legacy, so that present and future generations can truly understand and appreciate the man who came, saw, and conquered,” he noted.
Iworiso-Markson also expressed deep appreciation to key supporters of the project, including the Governors of Bayelsa, Senator Douye Diri; Delta, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori; and Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara; the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri; and Group CEO of Century Group, Ken Etete.
He extended thanks to former President Goodluck Jonathan; former Bayelsa Governor, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson; elder statesman Alhaji Tanko Yakasai; Ambassador Godknows Boladei Igali; members of PANDEF, the Ijaw National Congress (INC), the Ijaw Youth Congress (IYC); and the Clark family for their contributions and support.
