Troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA have intensified military operations against terrorist enclaves across Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi States, reinforcing their commitment to protecting communities and neutralizing insurgent threats.
On 25 March 2026, in Sokoto State, soldiers of the COAS Intervention Battalion VII, under Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, engaged terrorists in Magonho Forest, eliminating three bandits and recovering three AK-47 rifles alongside motorcycles.
In Zamfara State, troops executed a precision ambush along the Gada Maya–Makakari Village road, neutralizing two terrorists and forcing others to retreat. The operation led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 55 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, a Baofeng radio, two mobile phones, and a motorcycle. Later, when terrorists attempted to attack Kaida Village, falsely accusing residents of collaboration, the troops swiftly responded, neutralizing an additional insurgent and recovering another AK-47 rifle.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops conducted a clearance operation in Dutsi Village, Moriki District, Zurmi Local Government Area, forcing terrorists to abandon one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, and 26 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
In Kebbi State, troops acting on intelligence regarding the Lakurawa Terrorist Group in Giron Masa, Shanga Local Government Area, were ambushed 500 meters before reaching the village. Reinforcements were immediately deployed, and intelligence-led operations are ongoing to track and neutralize the fleeing terrorists.
Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, emphasized that the troops’ morale remained high, reflecting the Armed Forces’ core values of courage, professionalism, and service to the nation.
The military assured that Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA remained resolute in dominating operational space, degrading terrorist capabilities, and safeguarding law-abiding citizens across the North West.
