The Lord Bishop of Ijesa North Anglican Diocese, Rt. Rev’d Dr. Isaac Oluyamo, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to focus his administration on policies and programmes that will directly improve the lives of ordinary Nigerians, particularly the poor and vulnerable.
Speaking during the Second Session of the Fifth Synod of the Diocese, themed “A Sound of Abundant Rain”, Bishop Oluyamo emphasized that true governance must translate into tangible benefits for the masses.
“What is the essence of governance if the poor keep getting poorer?” the Bishop asked, urging the federal government to pursue people-centered initiatives that reduce hardship and uplift citizens across all strata of society.
He offered prayers for President Tinubu and members of his cabinet, asked God to grant them wisdom and success for the overall benefit of the nation.
Bishop Oluyamo also lauded the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, for what he described as dynamic and people-friendly governance. He commended the governor’s commitment to prompt payment of salaries and entitlements to retirees, noted that such policies had sustained public trust and confidence.
The Bishop further appreciated Osun State Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Tola Faseru, for hosting the Synod, and expressed the Church’s commitment to continued spiritual growth and evangelism. He encouraged Christians to remain steadfast in winning souls for Christ.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Dipo Eluwole, who represented the Osun State Governor. Highlights of the Synod included the elevation of Rev. Canon Festus Akintayo and Rev. Canon Emmanuel Ajiboye as Archdeacons, and Canon Adeyemo as Statutory Canon.
