The FCT Police Command has arrested four suspects involving in the killing of Retired Brig. General Uwen Harold Udokwere in Abuja.
This was disclosed by the FCT Commissioner of Police CP Benneth Igweh at a briefing held at the FCT Police Command on Monday 24th June,2024.
CP Bennett Igweh said Police operatives of FCT police command from Utako Division led by CSP Victor Godfrey on June 23rd, 2024 at about 04:00 p.m. acting on credible intelligence, trailed and arrested the four suspects;Ibrahim Rabiu 33 years ‘m’ of Rasha, Apo Nafiu Jamil 33 ‘m’ of Apo pantaker ,Aliyu Abdullahi 47 ‘m’ of Apo,Mohammed Nuhu 28 ‘m’ of Apo primary
The suspects according to the police were responsible for attacking, robbing and the killing of Brigadier General Uwen Harold Udokwere (rtd.) on June 22, 2024, at his residence in Sunshine homes Estate in Kabusa.
The suspects, who confessed to the crime, stabbed the General when he tried to resist them with his pistols. The knife used in committing the crime was recovered and the deceased stolen phone was equally recovered by the police. Effort is on top gear to arrest other fleeing suspects and to recover the pistols taken away from the deceased. Suspects will be charged to court at the end of the investigation.
The command also paraded wanted and notoroius kidnap suspects namely:
Isa Mohammed Ibrahim 30 years, ‘m’ of Kofina, Zuba, Abuja (an escapee of Kuje prison break in 2022) and his brother,Nasiru Mohammed A.K.A Danger
The suspects were trailed and arrested by the operatives of the FCT police command Anti-kidnapping on May 26, 2024 at about 10:00 am, based on credible intelligence.
The suspects are members of the kidnapping syndicate that stormed live stock estate in Dei-Dei sometimes in December, 2023 and kidnapped seventeen (17) victims, collected huge ransom before releasing the victims. The suspects confessed to the crime and to have collected the sum of N400, 000 and N300, 000 respectively from the ransom.
They also mentioned that their syndicate being one of the four kidnapping groups terrorising FCT and its environs is headed by sub commander Mallam currently on the run and under the general leadership of one Ardo also at large, commanding the four groups. Ninety-one (91) rustled cattle, four sheep, one AK-47 rifle, were recovered from them and they will be charged to court soon.
Similarly,in a streak of coordinated clearance operations on some identified bandits camps from 12th to 14th June, 2024, operatives of the FCT police command attached to the anti-kidnapping unit arrested the following suspects:
Sunday Musa A.K.A Dan Gwari 30 years ‘m’ of Kagarko LGA, Kaduana state. He is the Chief Informant and logistics supplier to the whole kidnapping groups under the general command of one Ardo, currently on the run. The suspect confessed to be the facilitator of the movement of nurses, hard drugs and sex workers on request to the kidnapping groups. He is also the financial courier through which money is distributed or shared on request to the kidnapper’s families and that he has distributed about Twenty million naira (N20, 000, 000) on behalf of the kidnappers.
He confirmed that the group led by Ardo, the general commander has over fifteen members, all having AK-47 rifles and that there are sub groups under him. The suspect confessed to have received the cash sum of N300, 000 once as compensation.
Ruqqaya Ibrahim 41 years ‘f’ of Sabon Wuse, Niger state, is also a food and logistics supplier to one of the kidnapping groups under the leadership of sub-commander Shumau who is currently on the run. She was arrested in Gidan Dogo forest while on her way to supply food to the kidnappers. She also led police operatives to Shumau’s residence where 14 rustled cows were recovered.
Musa Idris A.K.A Dogo 20 years ‘m’ of Lafia, Nasarawa state and
Aminu Ibrahim are also informant, logistic suppliers and errand boys to the kidnapping syndicate under the leadership of sub-commander Jamilu Umar who is responsible for a series of kidnapping in FCT, including the Dakwa and Dawaki kidnapping and also the kidnap of Mrs Ajayi O. Olatunde, a staff of FCTA in Bwari on 3rd june, 2024, who were all rescued. Two phones used in coordinating attacks and a motorcycle was recovered from them.
Zainnu Abubakar 30 years, ‘m’ of Tsafe LGA, Zamfara State, he is the P.O.S operator through which money is frequently withdrawn or transferred on request to the families of the kidnappers through the chief logistic supplier Sunday Musa, earlier mentioned. He who was trailed on intelligence and arrested at central market, Bwari at his business point. He confessed to have sent the total sum of 1.4 million naira through Sunday albeit, he doesn’t know he is working for or with kidnappers.
Yahaya Abubakar 20 years ‘m’ of Lunkuchi, Mpape, Abuja. He was recruited to rear rustled or stolen cattle by the kidnapping gang headed by Mallam, one of the sub-commanders, offered to pay him (N30, 000) monthly, of which only seven thousand has been given to him. He confessed that the group has about seven members, all having AK-47 rifles and identified Sunday Musa as the chief logistic supplier to the group he works for.
All the above mentioned suspects will be arraigned in court soon.
Also, police operatives of the command attached to Utako and Kubwa police divisions, in a joint operation in Agena, Abaji and Chikara, Kogi state bordering FCT, from 18th to 19th June, 2024, acting on intelligence, arrested the following suspects;
Umar Adamu a.k.a Walejo 42 years ‘m’ of Abaji, a notorious and wanted informant and logistic supplier to bandits. He supplies ammunition to kidnappers in Nasarawa, Abuja, Kogi and Kaduna state.
He is also the commander of Fulani Miyetti vigilante in Abuja.
Abdurahaman Abubakar a.k.a Juli 35 years, ‘m’ of Kogi state; he was arrested in connection with the kidnapping along Abuja/Kogi road where travelling Hummer buses were hijacked and the occupants kidnapped.
Suspects will be charged to court soon.
