The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared Friday April 21st as the first day of Shawwal.
According to Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, Thursday April 20, 2023 that is equal to Ramadan day 29 is the last day of Ramadan fasting for the islamic year 1444 A.H.
The Sultan of Sokoto while making the declaration in his palace today utters that the moon was sighted in parts of Nigeria and by extension has been confirmed by the National Moon sighting Committee.
NSCIA — Islamic Affairs via official Twitter handle tweeted; “The Sultan of Sokoto and Leader of the Nigerian Muslim Ummah, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared Thursday April 20, 2023 equivalent to Ramadan 29, 1444 A.H. as end of Ramadan fasting for the year.
By implication, tomorrow Friday April 21 equivalent to Shawwal 1 is Eid-ul-Fitri, he said.
Sultan Abubakar, while making the declaration in his palace on Thursday, said the moon was sighted in parts of Nigeria and has been confirmed by the National Moon Sighting Committee @moonsightingng
