A wedding reception in Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State turned tragic after the bride allegedly poisoned the food served to guests. The incident left one person dead and the groom critically ill.
According to sources, the bride’s actions may have stemmed from a personal vendetta. Confirming the incident, Jigawa State Police spokesperson, Mr. Shi’isu Adam, revealed that two suspects, including the bride and another female, have been arrested and are being interrogated by the Criminal Investigation Department.
“We received a report that the bride had tainted the food served at the wedding reception. This has resulted in one death, while the groom is battling for his life,” Adam stated.
He further assured that the command is working diligently to uncover the truth. “We will do everything in our power to ensure justice is served,” he added.
All other guests who consumed the poisoned food have been treated and discharged from the hospital, except for the deceased victim.
The police have yet to disclose the identities of the deceased, the groom, or other affected individuals as investigations continue.
Authorities also urged the public to remain calm while they unravel the circumstances surrounding the shocking incident.
