The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced its intention to delist companies that have failed to comply with provisions of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020, in a renewed enforcement effort aimed at sanitizing the nation’s corporate space.
According to a public notice published on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, the Commission revealed that the names of affected companies, which are now slated for removal from the Register, have been published on its official website. The CAC urged the general public and business stakeholders to verify the list online.
The Commission emphasized that companies which fail to update their records particularly the filing of Annual Returns and the declaration of Persons with Significant Control/Beneficial Ownership Information within 90 days of the publication date risk being struck off.
“It shall be unlawful for any company struck off the Register to carry on business, having lost right over the entity,” the notice warned.
The enforcement is pursuant to Section 692 (3) and (4) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020, which empowers the CAC to strike off inactive or non-compliant companies in order to ensure regulatory integrity.
The CAC reiterated its commitment to prompt and efficient service delivery while calling on affected entities to take immediate steps to regularize their status to avoid legal consequences.
