Capital City University, Kano, has recorded a significant academic milestone as the National Universities Commission (NUC) granted Full Accreditation to seven of its academic programmes. The approval followed the NUC’s accreditation exercise conducted in October and November 2024.
The development was formally conveyed in a letter dated April 30, 2025, with reference number NUC/ES/412/VOL.14/387. It was signed by Engr. Abraham Chundusu, Acting Director of Accreditation, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Prof. Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu.
The accredited programmes included:
Computer Science
Cyber Security
Software Engineering
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D)
Biotechnology
Forensic Science
Digital Entrepreneurship
The Mathematics programme received Interim Accreditation.
This latest achievement underscored the university’s dedication to academic excellence, modern infrastructure, and a forward-thinking institutional vision. It also positions the university as a rising force in innovation-driven higher education.
Reacting to the news, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Yusuf Bala Daraja, expressed his appreciation to staff and students for their resilience and commitment.
“This is a proud moment for our university. The Governing Council, Management, staff, and students received the news with great joy and fulfilment. I particularly salute the dedication, resilience, and collective effort of our academic and non-academic staff, as well as our students, whose contributions were central to this success,” he said.
In the wake of the accreditation, the university’s Governing Council has approved the development of postgraduate programmes in the newly accredited disciplines. This initiative aligns with the university’s long-term goal of becoming a centre of excellence in research and innovation.
The university called on all stakeholders to continue supporting its growth and transformation journey.
