President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to swear Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) today following the resignation of Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad on health grounds. Oyo- born Justice Ariwoola who is the most senior Justice of the Supreme Court will be sworn-in today by 2pm, according to competent sources. Senate passes bill to establish Chartered Risk Management Institute

Malabu: Nigeria loses $1.7 billion JP Morgan case

Nigeria on Tuesday lost its $1.7 billion claim against JP Morgan Chase Bank over the transfer of proceeds from the sale of OPL 245 in the controversial Malabu oil deal.   Judge Sara Cockerill ruled Tuesday that the Nigerian government couldn’t show that it had been defrauded in the case.   In the suit, Nigeria is claiming more than $1.7 billion for the bank’s role in the controversial deal.
