The City Boy Movement (CBM) Diaspora has convened a high-level strategic meeting in London, United Kingdom, aimed at transforming growing international support into concrete contributions toward Nigeria’s development.
The meeting followed the recent visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the UK, which stakeholders say has energized diaspora engagement and renewed commitment to national progress.
Speaking at the gathering, CBM Patron, Seyi Tinubu, underscored the movement’s core philosophy, stressed that it is designed as a platform for active participation rather than passive observation. He encouraged members of the diaspora to take deliberate steps toward influencing governance, economic growth, and social development.
In his remarks, Director-General Francis Oluwatosin Shoga highlighted the importance of coordinated global efforts. He noted that the movement is committed to building structured systems that can harness the expertise, networks, and resources of Nigerians abroad for measurable national impact.
Also speaking, Diaspora Director and host of the meeting, Bidemi Akintunde, emphasized a shift from symbolic backing to actionable initiatives. He outlined plans to drive investments, partnerships, and community-based projects that will directly benefit Nigerians at home.
Participants at the London meeting agreed that the time has come for the diaspora to move beyond rhetoric and assume a more central role in nation-building. They described the City Boy Movement as a “generational force” committed to empowering youth and contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s future.
The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge to strengthen diaspora collaboration and align efforts with the broader “Renewed Hope” agenda of the Tinubu administration.
