The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Christopher Musa has reaffirmed the commitment of the Armed Forces to strengthening joint operations across all theatres, as the three-day Joint Task Force (JTF) Commanders Conference concluded in Abuja.
In his closing remarks, the CDS commended participants for their dedication and insightful contributions, emphasized that the conference had provided a platform to evaluate operational challenges, enhance inter-agency collaboration, and adopt new strategies to tackle evolving security threats.
He highlighted the importance of the conference theme, “Enhancing Jointness Across all Theatres of Operation,” noted that discussions and expert presentations underscored the necessity of a whole-of-society approach to security. Contributions from former JTF Commanders, Service Chiefs, and Chiefs of Defence Staff were also acknowledged as crucial to shaping future operations.
CDS Musa charged Field Commanders to embrace innovation, adapt to the changing security landscape, and prioritize the welfare of personnel. He further stressed the need for strong community engagement, stating that the trust and cooperation of local populations are essential for successful counterinsurgency and stability operations.
The Defence Headquarters, he assured, remained committed to supporting frontline troops through training, improved welfare, and the timely provision of combat enablers.
Expressing gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) for his unwavering support, the CDS also appreciated the participation of senior military veterans and stakeholders who contributed to the conference’s success.
“As we return to our respective commands, let us carry forward the lessons learned and the resolutions made here,” he said. “The challenges ahead may be daunting, but with collective resolve and determination, we will overcome them.”
He then formally declared the 2025 Chief of Defence Staff Joint Task Force Commanders Conference closed and wished all participants safe travel back to their duty posts.
