In a recent operational visit to front-line units under OPERATION SAFE HAVEN in Kaduna and Plateau states, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, called on troops to uphold human rights while carrying out their duties.
Speaking to personnel of the newly established 2 National Mission Brigade in Samaru Kataf, Kaduna state, and troops of Sector 8 in Mangu, Plateau state, General Musa emphasized that the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) are trained to safeguard lives and properties, stressed the importance of respecting citizens’ human rights during operations.
Addressing the troops, the CDS urged them to intensify efforts in rooting out criminal hideouts, vowing a more vigorous and renewed effort to combat insurgency throughout 2025. He further warned against any illegal activities that could tarnish the reputation of the AFN, urged the troops to work cohesively as a team to achieve greater operational successes.
Earlier in the visit, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of OPERATION SAFE HAVEN, briefed the CDS on the overall security situation within the operational area.
In Southern Kaduna, General Musa paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, Agwam Ufuwai Bonet, the Chief of Kagoro, thanked him for his continued support to the troops operating in the region. The CDS was accompanied by Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, who expressed his gratitude for the CDS’s efforts to address insecurity in the area.
The visit underscored the military’s commitment to enhancing security while upholding the rights of citizens in the fight against criminal elements across the affected states.
