The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, on Wednesday, January 23, 2025, decorated newly appointed and promoted senior officers at the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja. The event, attended by friends, family, and colleagues, marked the conclusion of the 2024 promotion exercise.
During the ceremony, CGC Adeniyi congratulated the officers and emphasized the significance of their promotion. He highlighted the increased responsibilities that come with senior positions, urging the officers to operate at a strategic level where they will play key roles in decision-making and government policy implementation.
“This promotion is a call to a higher level of service. It requires personal discipline, professionalism, and the ability to make sound decisions. As senior officers, you are expected to provide leadership and guide younger officers,” Adeniyi said.
He also stressed the importance of mentorship, urged senior officers to share their knowledge and experiences with the younger generation of NCS officers. “Mentorship is vital in shaping the future of the Service. It is now your duty to guide the next generation and help them become better professionals.”
Speaking on behalf of the newly appointed and promoted officers, newly appointed Deputy Comptroller-General (DCG) Suleiman Chiroma expressed gratitude for the recognition and pledged loyalty to the Service and the nation. “We understand the high expectations that come with this promotion. We are committed to contributing positively to the success of the Nigeria Customs Service under the leadership of the Comptroller-General,” Chiroma said.
The ceremony followed the promotion of 4,291 senior officers on December 27, 2024, further demonstrating the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding excellence within its ranks.
