In support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Nigeria First policy aimed at strengthening local industry and promoting indigenous production, the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, on Thursday, 8th May 2025, inspected a range of vehicles manufactured by members of the Nigeria Automotive Manufacturers Association (NAMA) at the Customs Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.
During the inspection, the CGC commended the quality, design, and functionality of the locally assembled vehicles. “In terms of aesthetics, I am satisfied with what I see here. In terms of functionality, we have been assured by the manufacturers that the vehicles are quite efficient,” Adeniyi said.
He noted with pride the Nigerian imprint on the vehicles, stressed that the importance of local content. “What gives me joy is that in all the vehicles I have seen today, there is an imprint of Nigeria, which shows that they are fully assembled here. It gives me joy that Mr President’s policy is on the right course,” he added.
The CGC praised the Renewed Hope policy initiative and pledged Customs’ continued patronage and support for local automotive manufacturers, reaffirming the Service’s commitment to boosting the nation’s industrial economy.
Chairman and CEO of Cedric Masters Group, Ilekuba Anslem, lauded the CGC for his consistent backing of the auto industry. Similarly, Nord Automobiles Chairman/CEO, Oluwatobi Ajayi, stated, “Even before this policy was announced, you had been championing made-in-Nigeria vehicles. With Mr President’s announcement, we are confident you will be the first CEO of a government parastatal to fully champion this policy.”
Ajayi also assured the CGC of strong after-sales support.
Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) Director, Jonas Ojukwu, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to delivering high-performance vehicles to the Service.
Other key industry players present included representatives from Mikano Motors Nigeria and Stallion Motors Nigeria, all of whom pledged support for the Renewed Hope policy.
