The Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC), Gwagwalada, marked a significant event on Monday, December 16, 2024, with the graduation of 100 officers from Senior Course 11 and Junior Course 20. The ceremony, graced by Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) Adewale Adeniyi and Chairman of the House Committee on Customs and Excise, Hon. Leke Abejide, highlighted the critical importance of professionalism in customs operations.
In his keynote address, CGC Adeniyi praised the graduates for their dedication during the rigorous six-month training program. He urged them to uphold discipline, professionalism, and the core values of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), emphasizing the application of their newly acquired skills to strengthen border security, combat smuggling, and enhance revenue generation.
Hon. Abejide, serving as the Special Guest of Honour, congratulated the officers and described the training as a foundation for effective service delivery. He stressed the need for strict adherence to the Customs Act 2023 and advocated continuous learning to meet the demands of their roles in an evolving operational landscape.
The Commandant of the College, Acting Assistant Comptroller-General (Ag. ACG) Oluyomi Adebakin, conferred the Pass Senior Course (PSC) and Pass Junior Staff Course (PJSC) titles on the graduates. She commended their resilience and encouraged them to uphold the highest standards of leadership, discipline, and professionalism in their future assignments.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Chief Superintendent of Customs Abdullahi Ibrahim expressed gratitude to the NCS for prioritizing capacity building. He highlighted key lessons from the training, including discipline, procedural harmonization, and effective teamwork under pressure.
The graduation ceremony was preceded by a regimental dinner on December 12, 2024, where CGC Adeniyi underscored the importance of camaraderie, teamwork, and discipline in fostering effective service.
