CGC Adeniyi honoured with Outstanding Revenue Collection Award at NEAPS 2025

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has been presented with the Outstanding Revenue Collection Award at the 2025 Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS), held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, said Adeniyi was selected from a pool of 44 distinguished honourees drawn from public institutions nationwide. He noted that the selection followed a rigorous performance assessment aimed at recognising individuals who demonstrate exceptional public service delivery.

Akume commended the Customs chief for his discipline, transparency and professionalism, described his leadership style as “a clear reflection of the kind of public service Nigeria needs at this critical moment.”

He further highlighted the achievements of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) under Adeniyi, noted its consistency in surpassing revenue targets, strengthening border management and restoring public confidence in institutional service delivery. According to him, the NEAPS initiative seeks to deepen a culture of merit-based recognition and remind officeholders that “public offices are held in trust for the Nigerian people.”

Speaking after receiving the award, CGC Adeniyi expressed profound appreciation to President Tinubu, the SGF and the organisers. He said the recognition was not just personal but a testament to the dedication of the officers and men of the NCS.

He dedicated the award to the entire workforce, saying it would further boost morale as the Service intensified efforts toward enhanced revenue collection, improved border security and strengthened trade facilitation.

“This recognition challenges us to work even harder. It reinforces our commitment to making this country proud through credible revenue administration grounded in integrity and excellence,” he said.

The award ceremony drew a high-profile audience, including the governors of Adamawa, Bauchi, Kano and Zamfara States, the Director-General of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), and senior public officials.

The 2025 edition of NEAPS was organised by The Best Strategic (TBS) Media in partnership with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) to celebrate exceptional performance in public service nationwide.
