CGC Adewale Adeniyi bags Sun Newspaper Public Service Award ….. unveils Community Development Initiatives

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has been honoured with the Sun Newspaper Public Service Award in recognition of his outstanding leadership and contributions to national development.

 

The award ceremony, held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, in Lagos, attracted prominent dignitaries, including Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Management, Festus Keyamo, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, APC National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, and several captains of industry and royal fathers.

The Zonal Coordinator, Zone ‘A’ ACG Charles Orbih, and Area Controllers within the zone were also present at the event.

 

Speaking after receiving the award, Adeniyi described the honour as a motivation to further enhance service delivery in areas of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and national security.

 

“This kind of recognition is very encouraging and inspiring. Through our core mandates, we contribute to development, revenue generation, trade facilitation, and security. This is a call for better service delivery, and we are ready to do more in 2025,” he said.

 

In a significant announcement, Adeniyi revealed plans by the Customs Service to launch a series of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in the coming weeks. The CSR programmes, he noted, will focus on education, healthcare, and clean water supply in communities where Customs officers operate, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the eight priority areas of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

 

“We will be doing more to impact our communities through Corporate Social Responsibility programmes, which will be community-focused and anchored on the SDGs,” Adeniyi said.

 

The Customs boss dedicated the award to officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service, applauded their dedication and commitment to national service.

 

Dignitaries at the event commended CGC Adeniyi and other award recipients for their contributions to national development, emphasizing the importance of leadership and dedication in nation-building.
