The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas (Admiralty Medal), on 22 December 2025 commissioned an upgraded Primary Health Care Centre in Ikaram, Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State, under the CNS Special Intervention Quick Impact Project.
The project, executed in honour of Rear Admiral Adefemi Kayode, involved the renovation and remodelling of a block of the health facility, installation of a 10 kVA solar power system, and the provision of modern medical and diagnostic equipment aimed at improving healthcare delivery in the community.
Speaking at the commissioning on behalf of the CNS, the Chief Staff Officer, Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Nnamdi Ekwom, said the intervention reflects the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to civil–military cooperation and community development. He noted that the project aligned with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and urged residents to ensure proper use and maintenance of the facility to guarantee sustainability.
The project facilitator, Rear Admiral Adefemi Kayode, encouraged community members to take ownership of the centre and make effective use of it for early diagnosis and treatment of ailments.
In his goodwill message, the Akala of Ikaram, Oba Andrew Olamoyi Momodu (Commodore Rtd), commended the Nigerian Navy for the timely intervention, describing it as a significant boost to grassroots healthcare. The facility was officially commissioned by the representative of the Ondo State Governor, Hon. Abiola Ojo, Chairman of Erusu and Ikaram Akoko Local Council Development Areas.
The event was attended by the Commanding Officer, Forward Operating Base Igbokoda, Captain A.O. Alemongwa, other naval officers, community leaders, and residents.
