The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, has restated the Nigerian Navy’s dedication to national development through civil-military cooperation, as he commissioned a Special Intervention Quick Impact Project in Gwagwada, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The project entailed the renovation and electrification of classroom blocks and staff rooms, alongside the provision of classroom furniture to enhance teaching and learning in the community.
The CNS, who was represented by the Chief of Naval Safety and Standards, Rear Admiral Abdulmajid Ibrahim, mni, said the project was in line with the Nigerian Navy’s support for the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasizes inclusive development and grassroots empowerment.
Rear Admiral Ibrahim lauded the facilitator of the project, Rear Admiral Mustapha Bala Hassan, Executive Director of Maritime Security Strategy at the International Maritime Institute of Nigeria, for initiating and championing the intervention in his hometown.
“This is a strong demonstration of the Navy’s commitment to positively impact lives beyond the maritime domain,” Rear Admiral Ibrahim said. “Rear Admiral Mustapha Hassan has set a noble example of giving back to society.”
He encouraged the Gwagwada community to take ownership of the project and ensure its sustainability.
The representative of Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, and Chairman of the State Teachers Board, Alhaji Adamu Makadi, described the initiative as a milestone in community-led development and the first of its kind in the state under the Navy’s Quick Impact Projects.
In his remarks, Rear Admiral Mustapha Hassan said the project was inspired by his conviction that education remains the most powerful tool for societal transformation. He appreciated the CNS for granting the opportunity to execute the project under the Navy’s civil-military framework.
Dignitaries at the event included the Air Officer Commanding, Air Training Command, AVM A.Y. Dare; Commandant of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, AVM H.I. Alhaji; Hon. Jesse Tanko representing Chikun Constituency; representatives of the GOC 1 Division Nigerian Army, and Commandants of NDA and AFIT.
The event marked another impactful chapter in the Nigerian Navy’s civil-military cooperation drive under the leadership of Vice Admiral Ogalla.
