COAS Oluyede increases Troops’ Feeding Allowance, introduces Housing and Loan Schemes

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has announced an upward review of troops’ daily feeding allowance from N1,500 to N3,000, effective from March 5, 2025.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, during his address to officers and soldiers of the 81 Division at the 9th Brigade Parade Ground in Ikeja, Lagos, as part of his duty tour of project sites within the division’s area of responsibility.

General Oluyede expressed his dissatisfaction with the previous feeding allowance, emphasized his commitment to improving the welfare of troops.

In addition to the allowance increase, the COAS introduced a Nigerian Army Housing Scheme to address accommodation challenges faced by warrant officers, particularly those without personal homes to retire to. The scheme, which had its first set of houses unveiled in Abuja in December, will also be extended to Ibadan, Jos, Port Harcourt, Owerri, and Akwa Ibom. The affordable housing units will range between N8 million for two- and three-bedroom apartments.

To further support soldiers’ welfare, Oluyede announced a low-interest loan scheme with a three percent interest rate, aimed at providing financial assistance to personnel.

The COAS assured troops of his dedication to building on the legacies of his predecessors while prioritizing their welfare.
