The Commander of the Nigerian Army Women Command (NAWC), Brigadier General MS Adamu, embarked on a series of familiarization visits to key Nigerian Army institutions as part of his efforts to foster cooperation and promote the welfare of female personnel.
Brigadier General Adamu, who assumed command on 29 January 2026, first visited the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre (NAHFC), where he was warmly received by Major General TE Gagariga and senior officers of the Centre. In his remarks, the Commander commended the Centre for preserving the Nigerian Army’s heritage and institutional memory, highlighting the importance of history and tradition in building professionalism and pride, especially among women in service.
Responding, Major General Gagariga emphasized the value of the visit in instilling discipline among junior officers and reminded personnel of the Nigerian Army’s social media policies. He also reaffirmed NAHFC’s readiness to collaborate with NAWC in promoting historical awareness, leadership development, and national pride, describing the Centre as a bridge between the Army’s past, present, and future.
Following the NAHFC visit, Brigadier General Adamu paid his maiden familiarization visit to the President of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs. Safiyyah Hassan Shaibu. The visit aimed at strengthening relations, fostering collaboration, and supporting initiatives for female personnel.
Brigadier General Adamu expressed gratitude for NAOWA’s ongoing support and emphasized the importance of synergy between NAWC and NAOWA in promoting unity, morale, and empowerment for women in the Army. In response, Mrs. Shaibu lauded the Commander and reaffirmed NAOWA’s commitment to partnering with NAWC on welfare and empowerment initiatives.
Both visits concluded with the exchange of souvenirs and group photographs, marking a positive step toward closer collaboration in supporting women in the Nigerian Army.
