On December 5, 2024, the Imo/Abia Customs Area Command organized a grand retirement ceremony to honor Comptroller E. Luka (Rtd) as he officially bowed out of active service.
The event, held at the command headquarters in Owerri, celebrated Compt. Luka’s eight months, one week, and four days of impactful leadership as the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Imo/Abia Area Command.
In his speech, the Public Relations Officer, SC NO Aligwekwe, highlighted the CAC’s tenure, which began on March 27, 2024. He expressed appreciation for the outgoing CAC’s unwavering support to the Public Relations Unit, noting how his leadership significantly enhanced the unit’s operations.
“Despite the low volume of activities at bonded terminals and the temporary suspension of operations by Nigerian Breweries at Awomama, the command generated an impressive N19.39 billion in revenue under his leadership,” the PRO said.
Compt. Luka, in his farewell speech, reflected on his journey in active service and expressed gratitude to the officers and men of the command for their commitment and dedication. He encouraged them to embrace every deployment as an opportunity to serve selflessly, rejecting any form of selfish interests.
Goodwill messages poured in from senior officers, including Deputy Controller Administration DC M Mohammed, and Assistant Controllers such as AC AB Miakobi and AC KC Daniels, who praised the outgoing CAC’s accomplishments. Representatives from bonded terminals and excise factories, including Nigeria Bottling Company Plant Manager Mr. Nwaeze Chukwuemeka, also commended Compt. Luka for his contributions and wished him a happy and healthy retirement.
