The Concerned Rivers People (CRP) has reacted to the recent comments made by the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, following the Supreme Court’s verdict, describing the remarks as an attempt to garner undue sympathy.
In a press statement signed by the group’s Public Relations Officer, Alex Nwogu, CRP expressed disappointment over the governor’s directive to local government chairmen to hand over to heads of local government administration, stating that such action contravenes the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
The group accused Governor Fubara of diverting public funds without commensurate development, alleged that the governor’s expenditure in 2024 surpassed that of his predecessor within two and a half years.
“We do not need to educate him on what to do since he has equally promised to obey court verdicts, though in his half wisdom, he is in disagreement with the apex court,” the statement read.
CRP urged Governor Fubara to align with the directive of the Rivers State House of Assembly and avoid plunging the state into further hardship through what it described as “deliberate errors” in governance.
“We have heard your dirge, Fubara, but cannot mourn with you,” the group concluded.
