The National President of the Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA), Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi, on Friday, August 29, 2025, inaugurated and commissioned the newly established COWA Secretariat in Kebbi State.
The ceremony, held at the Nigeria Customs Service Kebbi Area Command Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, was attended by the wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Nafisa Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), who joined Mrs. Adeniyi to formally unveil the facility.
As part of the event, the COWA President and the Governor’s wife distributed food items and writing materials to dozens of orphans and widows of fallen Customs officers, a gesture aimed at alleviating hardship and extending support to vulnerable members of the community.
In her remarks, Mrs. Adeniyi expressed deep appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for his steadfast support to the Association, as well as to the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller CC Nwokorie, for ensuring the success of the event.
The Kebbi First Lady, Hajiya Nafisa, welcomed the COWA delegation and pledged her continuous support for widows and orphans in the state, in line with the administration’s social welfare agenda.
Earlier, Comptroller Nwokorie described the commissioning as historic, noting that since the creation of the Kebbi Area Command in 2019, this was the first COWA activity in the state. He credited the achievement to the visionary leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs.
The event marked a new chapter in COWA’s activities in Kebbi State, further strengthening its mission of providing care and empowerment for Customs families and communities.
