CP Elleman hosts Strategic Security Conference, orders Statewide deployment ahead of Eid-el-Kabir celebrations

The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, on Wednesday, May 29, 2025, held a strategic conference with senior officers of the Command, including Heads of Departments (HODs), Tactical Commanders, Area Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) from all 25 Local Government Areas of the State. The meeting, held at the Police Officers’ Mess in Minna, focused on reviewing the current security situation and strengthening operational readiness ahead of the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

In his address, CP Elleman applauded the officers for their commitment to tackling criminal activities, particularly the reduction of thuggery in Minna metropolis and other urban centres across the State. He acknowledged the relative calm achieved so far and urged the officers to sustain and improve on strategies already in place, including intelligence-led policing, regular patrols, and active stakeholder engagement.

The CP warned officers against the use of torture or other unethical methods during investigations, stressed that confessional statements must be obtained legally and professionally. He emphasized that criminal cases should be built on solid evidence and exhibits to ensure successful prosecution in accordance with the law.

As preparations begin for the local government elections scheduled for November 1, 2025, CP Elleman reminded officers of their duty to remain neutral and professional throughout the campaign period, which officially runs until October 31. He directed that the police must provide equal protection and a level playing field for all political parties.

Ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir festivities, expected to be celebrated on Friday, June 6, 2025, the Commissioner ordered full implementation of the operational plan for the holiday. He directed the deployment of personnel and resources to ensure security at all Eid prayer grounds and other strategic locations across the State. He also emphasized visibility policing, show of force, and the use of operational assets to guarantee a peaceful and hitch-free celebration.

The Niger State Police Command reassured residents of its commitment to maintaining law and order, while calling on the public to cooperate with security personnel and report any suspicious activities promptly.
