CP Niger decorates 414 newly promoted ASPs, charges them on Discipline, Professionalism

The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, mnips, on Thursday decorated newly promoted officers elevated from the rank of Inspectors to Assistant Superintendent of Police II (ASP II) at the Command Headquarters, Dutsen-Kura, Minna.

Addressing senior officers, families of the beneficiaries and invited guests at the ceremony held on February 12, 2026, the CP congratulated the four hundred and fourteen (414) officers from the Niger State Command who were promoted out of over twenty-six thousand (26,000) Inspectors nationwide.

He noted that the beneficiaries were found worthy of elevation to the rank of ASP II by the Police Service Commission (PSC) following a successful evaluation during the recently conducted Departmental Selection Board (DSB) for Inspectors of Police.

CP Elleman, who congratulated the officers on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, described promotion as the greatest joy of every officer and welcomed the newly decorated ASPs into the privileged senior officers’ cadre of the Force.

He, however, reminded them that with the new rank comes greater responsibility, stressing that “to whom much is given, much more is expected.” The CP charged the officers to exhibit the highest level of discipline, commitment and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

The Commissioner further reminded the officers that the first two years on the rank of ASP II remain a probationary period, during which their capabilities and performance will be assessed before confirmation to the next rank of ASP I. He urged them to remain steadfast, dedicated and to continually prove themselves worthy of the confidence reposed in them.

Some of the newly promoted ASPs decorated by the CP include ASP Sule Usman, ASP Lafiyagi Umar, ASP Habila Abu, ASP Ernest Ekhator, ASP Perpetual Terungwa, ASP Sallah Obadiah, ASP Jane Mathew, ASP Sunday Hosea, ASP Oodo Obekpa, ASP Saratu Bulus, ASP Rakiya Gambo, ASP Aliyu Yakubu, ASP Lawrence Mowette, ASP Edache John, ASP Ibrahim Istifanus, ASP Bello Adamu, ASP Apochi Anthony, ASP Deborah Daniel, ASP Lohya Emmanuel, ASP Sonfada Ibrahim, ASP Esther Philip and ASP Muhammad Salisu.

Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, ASP Hosea Sunday delivered the vote of thanks, expressed gratitude to God and appreciation to the PSC, the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police for finding them worthy of elevation. He assured the leadership of their renewed dedication, commitment and improved performance in service to the nation.

The CP congratulated the officers and their families once again and wished all guests a safe journey back to their respective destinations.
