The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, mnips, has presented cheques amounting to ₦56,942,985 to families and next-of-kin of police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty between 2023 and 2024. The presentation, conducted on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), took place on Friday, 9th January 2026, at the State Police Command Headquarters, Dutsen-Kura, Minna.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, about 20 families and next-of-kin benefited from the payment under the IGP’s Group Life Assurance (GLA) Scheme, which is part of ongoing welfare initiatives of the Nigeria Police Force aimed at supporting families of deceased personnel.
Addressing the beneficiaries, CP Elleman welcomed them to the Command and described the gesture as a demonstration of the IGP’s commitment to the welfare of police officers and their families. He reaffirmed that the Nigeria Police Force places high priority on robust welfare schemes to cushion the impact of the loss of its personnel on their loved ones.
The Commissioner condoled with the families, noting that the fallen officers are not forgotten and that their sacrifices will always be remembered by the Command. He stressed that while no amount of money can compensate for the loss of life, the financial support was intended to assist and provide some relief to the families.
CP Elleman advised the beneficiaries to utilise the funds judiciously in a manner that would honour the memory of the deceased officers. He further assured them that the Command remains their home and encouraged them to always seek assistance whenever the need arises, before wishing them safe journeys back to their various destinations.
