The Honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs in Cross River State and Coordinating Chairperson of Commissioners for Humanitarian Affairs in Nigeria, Dr. Helen Isamoh, has paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Hon. Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.
During the visit, Dr. Isamoh congratulated the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, on his recent elevation as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). She also commended Dr. Sununu for his passionate leadership and commitment to the Ministry’s mandate.
The visit was aimed at strengthening the partnership between the Federal Ministry and the Cross River State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, while fostering synergy among humanitarian affairs ministries across the country.
Dr. Isamoh and the Minister of State also held discussions on improving the implementation and impact of the National Cash Transfer Programme.
A major highlight of the meeting was the Minister’s disclosure that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the last Federal Executive Council meeting, approved the establishment of a National Council for Humanitarian Affairs. The Council is expected to play a pivotal role in coordinating and institutionalizing humanitarian interventions across Nigeria.
Isamoh expressed optimism that this development would enhance national coordination and deepen grassroots impact of humanitarian services.
