The Chairman of Chinese Shipbuilding Offshore International Limited (CSOIL), Mr Liu Song, on Tuesday, 27 January 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abass (Admiralty Medal), as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation in naval development.
During the visit, Mr Liu expressed appreciation for the longstanding partnership between CSOIL and the Nigerian Navy, noting the significant achievements recorded in shipbuilding and vessel acquisition over the years. He reaffirmed his company’s commitment to deepening the existing collaboration and expressed optimism that more milestones would be attained in support of the Navy’s fleet expansion and modernization drive.
Mr Liu further emphasized CSOIL’s readiness to continue providing technical and operational support aimed at enhancing the operational capabilities of the Nigerian Navy.
In his response, Vice Admiral Abass commended CSOIL for its sustained support, particularly in the acquisition of Nigerian Navy Ships UNITY and CENTENARY. He described the partnership as strategic to the Navy’s efforts at building a formidable maritime force.
The CNS welcomed the visiting delegation and reiterated the Navy’s resolve to strengthen cooperation with CSOIL in line with his vision of building a modern, agile, and professional naval force. He stressed that such collaborations remain vital to safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime interests and advancing national security objectives.
The visit underscored the growing partnership between the Nigerian Navy and international stakeholders in promoting maritime security and capacity development.
