The Coalition for Truth and Justice (CTJ) has accused detractors of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, of attempting to derail his efforts to transform the territory into a model capital city.
In a statement issued on Friday, the CTJ’s Executive Director, Dr. Idoko Ainoko, defended Wike’s policies on land revocations, demolition of illegal structures, and enforcement of the FCT master plan, describing the accusations against him as baseless and politically motivated.
“It is curious that people are accusing the Minister of land grabbing, revocations, and demolitions without substantiating their claims. Instead, they resort to social media campaigns to mislead the public and demonise the hard-working Minister,” Ainoko stated.
The CTJ alleged that those behind the accusations are “emergency activists” and property owners with vested interests, who are exploiting the court of public opinion to frustrate Wike’s reforms. The group urged critics to seek redress in court if they believe their rights have been violated.
“Wike’s commitment to project delivery and visionary leadership has made him a target for those envious of his achievements. These unfounded allegations are distractions from the remarkable progress being made under his administration,” Ainoko added.
The coalition highlighted Wike’s achievements, including the expansion of road networks, opening up satellite towns for affordable housing, and creating a conducive atmosphere for growth in the FCT.
CTJ further lauded Wike’s proactive measures to tackle illegal land encroachments and unauthorized constructions, emphasizing that the Minister has always adhered to due process and legal frameworks in implementing these policies.
“We must not allow the malicious actions of a few to derail the progress being made. Wike’s vision for the FCT is one of prosperity and development, and we must stand by him to achieve this goal,” Ainoko concluded.
The group called on the public to support Wike’s ongoing efforts and disregard baseless accusations aimed at undermining the transformation of the FCT.
