The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, has lauded the Ogun II Area Command for its impressive revenue performance, achieving a 40% increase in revenue generation. The command generated ₦15.191 billion from January to April 2025, up from ₦9.165 billion in the same period in 2024.
During a working visit to the Command Headquarters in Abeokuta, the CGC praised the command’s efforts and pledged support to address operational challenges. The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Bisi Alade, highlighted the command’s structure and achievements, noting that the command oversees three Free Trade Zones, 67 excise factories, and one bonded terminal.
Comptroller Alade expressed gratitude for the CGC’s visit, stating, “Your presence here today, sir, is not only encouraging but also a strong indication of your commitment to every arm of the Service… It has uplifted the spirit of our officers and reinforced our resolve to deliver on the Service’s mandate with renewed vigour.”
The CAC also drew attention to challenges facing the command, including inadequate operational vehicles, medical laboratory equipment, and infrastructure needs. In response, CGC Adeniyi assured the Service Headquarters would consider the issues raised.
The CGC commended Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for leveraging the state’s strategic location as Nigeria’s industrial gateway. He assured the government and people of Ogun State that the Nigeria Customs Service remains committed to driving economic prosperity.
“Let me also commend the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for leveraging the state’s strategic location as Nigeria’s industrial gateway,” Adeniyi said. “Ogun State is a strategic location in Nigeria, and the Governor is clearly repositioning the state for industrial growth.”
The Ogun II Command oversees three Free Trade Zones, 67 excise factories, and one bonded terminal, making it a crucial revenue-generating and industrial oversight zone.
The CGC urged officers to prioritize continuous professional development, emphasizing competence, knowledge, and dedication in discharging their responsibilities.
