The Katsina Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has extended its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives by donating educational materials and promising free medical services to pupils of Hassan Usman Science Primary School in Katsina.
Speaking during the event on Tuesday, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Abba-Aji Idris, announced that the Command’s clinic would provide free medical care to pupils and teachers of the school. He explained that the initiative was designed to support the community and improve healthcare access.
He said “Children are often prone to minor injuries, so we have opened our clinic to them for free medical services,” Comptroller Idris said. “Our clinic is well-staffed with trained doctors and nurses to handle such needs.”
The CSR effort also included the donation of exercise books, whiteboards, pens, and pencils to the pupils and school management. Comptroller Idris noted that the gesture was aimed at alleviating challenges faced by the pupils and improving educational standards in Katsina State.
The Controller further highlighted the Command’s commitment to educating young learners on the dangers of smuggling and its negative effects on the economy.
Dr. Halima Umar, the Katsina State Local Government Education Secretary, expressed gratitude to the NCS for its support. She noted that the donated materials would enhance teaching and learning, while the free medical services would significantly benefit the school community.
