The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has extended the deadline for all beneficiaries under the Fast Track Scheme to migrate to the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme. The initial cut-off date of December 31, 2025, has now been shifted to January 31, 2026.
According to a statement by the National Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada, the extension is part of the Service’s drive to deepen trade facilitation, enhance supply chain security, and strengthen compliance in line with international best practices.
Maiwada urged all remaining Fast Track beneficiaries to complete their migration via the official platform, aeo.nigeriatradehub.gov.ng, noting that only certified AEO participants will continue to enjoy facilitation privileges previously available under the Fast Track Scheme. He added that enquiries and technical support remain available through aeo@customs.gov.ng.
The AEO Programme, a globally recognised compliance-based initiative under the World Customs Organisation (WCO) SAFE Framework, offered trusted operators benefits such as expedited cargo release, reduced documentation, pre-arrival processing, and lower inspection levels. The full migration is backed by Sections 108 to 111 of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.
As part of efforts to ensure a seamless transition, the Service has also scheduled another Stakeholders Engagement Forum for Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the Lagos Continental Hotel, from 0900hrs to 1600hrs. The forum will offer practical guidance on AEO application procedures and address compliance-related concerns.
The NCS encouraged all Fast Track beneficiaries to make use of the extended window and actively participate in the sensitisation exercise, noting that compliance will strengthen supply chain efficiency while promoting transparency and national competitiveness.
The Service reaffirmed its commitment to improving trade efficiency, safeguarding national revenue, and enhancing a predictable and secure cargo clearance system that supports legitimate business.
