The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intensified collaboration with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and the National Single Window (NSW) Secretariat to drive the Federal Government’s trade reform agenda.
On Tuesday, 12 August 2025, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi , hosted FIRS Executive Chairman, Dr. Zacch Adedeji, and NSW Project Director, Mr. Tola Fakolade, at the NCS Headquarters in Abuja to review progress on the Nigerian National Single Window Project and agree on final steps towards its operational take-off in the first quarter of 2026.
Describing the initiative as a “transformational project that will reshape Nigeria’s trade landscape,” CGC Adeniyi stressed the importance of seamless inter-agency cooperation for its success.
“This project is not just about technology; it is about building a modern trade ecosystem where government agencies work as one to serve the trading community with efficiency, transparency, and speed,” he said.
Launched in April 2024 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigerian National Single Window is a unified digital platform linking all trade-related government agencies. It aims to eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks, reduce cargo clearance time, lower operational costs, and boost Nigeria’s competitiveness in global trade.
Dr. Adedeji reaffirmed FIRS’ commitment to the project, pledging full collaboration to ensure improved compliance, revenue growth, and ease of doing business.
Mr. Fakolade urged all participating agencies to meet integration timelines to keep the Q1 2026 launch on track.
The meeting ended with a joint pledge by NCS, FIRS, and NSW Secretariat to accelerate technical integration, maintain open engagement channels, and update stakeholders regularly. Once operational, the platform is expected to enhance revenue generation, create jobs, strengthen compliance, and deliver tangible benefits for businesses, government, and consumers.
