The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) celebrated outstanding achievements at the 2025 Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) Conference Awards Night and Gala Dinner, with the Public Relations Unit and Kano/Jigawa Command emerging as top honourees.
The event, which concluded a two-day conference focused on operational efficiency, collaboration, and institutional reforms, brought together Management members, Comptrollers, senior officers, and invited guests to honour exemplary performances across the Service.
Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, commended officers for surpassing the 2025 revenue target ahead of the conference. “Tonight is about celebrating ourselves. We have worked hard, delivered results, and strengthened the pillars that define our mandate. It is only right that we pause to acknowledge excellence within the Service,” he said.
The Public Relations Unit was recognized for its strategic communication, media visibility, and proactive stakeholder engagement, particularly during the C-PACT Summit and the CGC Conference. Its work in countering misinformation and promoting public understanding of Customs operations was highlighted as a key contributor to the Service’s success.
Kano/Jigawa Area Command, led by Comptroller Abubakar Dalhatu, won the Most Improved Command award following notable revenue generation, high-profile currency seizures, and strengthened enforcement outcomes. Its Public Relations Officer, CSC Tahir Balarabe, also received the Best Public Relations Officer of the Year award for exemplary performance in visibility management and crisis communication.
Several other Commands, Units, and officers were celebrated for excellence in leadership, innovation, discipline, community relations, anti-smuggling operations, and trade facilitation, reflecting the wide-ranging contributions of NCS personnel to the Service’s modernization drive.
The ceremony concluded with officers reaffirming their commitment to professionalism, unity, and sustaining the momentum of reforms as the Nigeria Customs Service prepares for another year of strategic achievements.
