Hon.Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has extended heartfelt congratulations to Amanda Azubuike following her historic promotion to the rank of Brigadier General in the United States Army.
In a statement issued by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, NiDCOM’s Head of Media, Public Relations, and Protocols, Dabiri-Erewa lauded Azubuike’s achievement, recognized it as a reflection of her unwavering dedication, resilience, and exceptional service to the U.S. Army. Born in London to a Nigerian father and a Zimbabwean mother, Azubuike’s rise to Brigadier General is seen as a proud milestone for Nigeria, underscoring the significant contributions of Nigerians in the diaspora to global advancements.
Azubuike joined the U.S. Army in 1994, initially training as an aviator after completing the Army Aviation Officer Basic Course. Throughout her career, she has held pivotal roles, including platoon leader, flight operations officer, and public affairs officer. She currently serves as the Deputy Commanding Officer at the U.S. Army Cadet Command.
Dabiri-Erewa emphasized that Azubuike’s promotion is not only a personal achievement but also a beacon of inspiration for Nigerians worldwide. “Amanda’s elevation to Brigadier General highlights the contributions of Nigerians in the diaspora, shattering barriers and demonstrating the power of perseverance,” she said.
