The Virtuous Women of Delta (VWD) have called on the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, to tender an unreserved apology to Mrs. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan over alleged derogatory remarks and disrespectful treatment.
In a statement signed by its Coordinator, Deaconess Eguolo Oghenekevwe, the group condemned Akpabio’s alleged utterances, described them as sacrilegious and a violation of cultural values.
“We have patiently observed how the Senate President has been dragging our wife through the mud. In our tradition, such an act is sacrilegious and attracts heavy sanctions. Walking her out of a public gathering is a direct affront that could provoke mass action from us,” the statement read.
The group warned that if Akpabio failed to tender an unreserved apology within 14 days, they would be forced to stage a protest at the National Assembly to express their displeasure.
They further recalled that the Senate President had earlier used “unprintable words” in reference to a nightclub, despite knowing that Natasha is married to a respected Delta son, which they said was a desecration of their culture.
“Our men are lions who do not tolerate such desecration, especially when it involves a married woman. As someone from our geopolitical zone, Akpabio should know that our traditions cannot be swept under the carpet,” the group declared.
They urged the Senate President to apologize publicly or face the consequences of their collective anger.
