Deputy Senate President Barau mourns Galadiman Kano, attends burial

Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has mourned the passing of Galadiman Kano, Alhaji Abbas Sunusi Bayero, who died on Tuesday night at the age of 92.

 

The late prince, father of Kano State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Abdullahi Abbas, was a senior member of the Kano Emirate Council and served for several decades.

 

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau described the late Galadiman Kano as an elder statesman whose contributions to the development of the Kano Emirate and the state were immeasurable.

 

“The demise of our father, Galadiman Kano, is a great loss that creates a huge vacuum that cannot be easily filled. He played a pivotal role in the development of the Kano Emirate, Kano State, and the entire North. We have lost a father, a mentor, and a role model,” he stated.

 

He urged the bereaved family to take solace in the fact that the deceased was a devout Muslim who dedicated his life and resources to serving Allah and humanity. He also prayed for Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.

 

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his immediate family, especially the APC Chairman in Kano, Prince Abdullahi Abbas, the Kano Emirate, and all those he left behind. May Allah grant them the strength to bear this loss,” he added.

 

Senator Barau arrived in Kano on Wednesday morning and attended the funeral held at the Gandu Cemetery in Kano metropolis.
